Fresh from another scintillating victory in the recently concluded Danny’s Auto Sales Open Scrabble Championship as well as the two preceding tournaments, top seed in the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP), James Krakowsky will attempt to maintain his winning streak when the GASP stages H. Halim General Contracting Company Open Championships at the Malteenoes Sports Club, Thomas lands, Sunday March 3.
However, he may not find it so easy as National Scrabble Champion, Abigail McDonald who placed second in the previous championship will also be in contention and would be keen to reverse her fortunes. Several other players will be vying for honours and the top seeds would do well to note that Lindener, Grace Hercules has been in ripping form and has carted off the award for being the best player outside the top ten rating.
Other players to be wary of include Moen Gafoor, Ewart Adams, the fast improving Maurice Munro and Prudence Edwards among others.
The registration period gets underway from 09:45hrs, while the first tile will be placed at 10:00hrs. Participants are asked to note that late comers would be penalized as their clocks will be started in their absence.
Once again, trophies and other lucrative prizes would be awarded to the top three finishers while the best player out of the top 10 ratings will receive a special prize.
