The Youth Coalition for Transformation (YCT) has lashed out at the Guyana Times, one of the news outfits owned by good friend of Bharrat Jagdeo, Dr. Bobby Ramroop of Queens Atlantic Investment Inc, accusing the media house of attempting to stir up political quarrels.
The Guyana Times Newspaper which it is believed also incorporates Bharrat Jagdeo in its commercial affairs, reported that YCT was looking to distance itself from A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) when it announced that it would engage the Government in dialogue.
The YCT responded by saying that the article, “ leaves us no doubt than to conclude that Guyana Times is out to deliberately create confusion in the minds of Guyanese as they attempt to stir up political quarrel.”
YCT called the behaviour “insipid, irresponsible and reckless and said that the publication should be condemned by all right-thinking Guyanese.
“It is clear that Guyana Times seems to have a mandate to mischaracterise and misrepresent the YCT and the young people of this great country.”
The Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), which has always been recognized as APNU’s Youth Arm said that, “it is sad that at a time when young people, who have been often chastised for being irresponsible, have decided to take a stance to lead the fight for social and political justice in Guyana, some in the media have decided to engage in a campaign to deliberately stymie our success.”
YCT has committed itself to remaining vigilant and continue to execute its mandate saying that, “We vow to expose all those who have embarked on a path to vilify, mischaracterise and misrepresent us.”
The young organisation said that it has demonstrated, with the help of the people of Guyana, how effective it can organise to confront “those who wickedly attempt to engineer devious plots against us.”
The organization said too that it has made no bones about the fact that it is supportive of the principles and policies of the APNU, “and many of the young people who form the leadership of YCT believe, like the APNU, that it is time we as a people work towards achieving a government of National Unity, so there can be no dissociating of YCT from APNU as we in YCT believe in the core principles of APNU.
