Armed bandits have struck the Berbice area again, this time during a brazen
mid- afternoon robbery at Ragwan’s Ice-cream Parlour and Off- Licensed Store at Lot 3B Williamsburg, Corentyne.
Two unmasked men entered the shop sometime around 14:30hrs yesterday posing as customers and made a request to the proprietrix, Indranie Gurayah, to open a glass case situated at the front of the shop since they had wanted to purchase an item inside of it.
When she opened the grill door to access the front of the shop the men gun-butted her to her face with a shot gun and entered the area behind the counter.
Gurayah and her mother, Basmattie, were the only occupants of the premises at the time.
“They put the gun to me eye and to me face,” Gurayah recalled.
The men subsequently carted off over $1M in cash and jewellery and escaped into the Williamsburg back-dam.
This is the third time such an occurrence took place at the shop.
On previous occasions, bandits made attempts to rob the premises but failed.
