The Ministry of Public Works has lived up to its promise to fix a broken
section of the road at Swan Turn, Kuru Kuru, on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
According to Government Engineer, Walter Willis, works began on the damaged section of the road over the weekend and have been successfully completed. When contacted yesterday, Willis said that the hole in the road was filled and road resurfaced with bitumen.
On Friday last, residents of the area signaled their concerns of the cave in to this newspaper. When contacted last week Mr. Willis said that the Ministry was aware of the situation close to a week ago and they were also informed of the situation by Commander of ‘A’ Division, George Vyphius.
Willis had promised that the problem which posed a major threat to traffic and pedestrians would have been corrected over the weekend.
The highway is a major link to Linden, the hinterlands and city.
