-Fruta Conquerors and Sunburst Camptown battle for third place

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) swept into the final of this year’s NaMilCo Football Festival after scoring a 1-0 win over favourites Fruta Conquerors on Sunday, at the Tucville ground.
Clearly showing more hunger than the hosts, the Army led by goalscorer Delywin Fraser, who netted in the 89th minute of play and the seasoned Desford Williams always looked like scoring during their many raids in the opposition half and it was to many a surprise that they did not increase their scoreline.
Fraser especially was a constant bother to the Fruta Conquerors backline that featured Trevon Lythcott and had it not been for goalkeeper Colin ‘the next best thing’ Edwards heroics between the uprights there was no doubt the eventual margin of victory would have been greater.
The soldiers now move on to play Beacons in the final after their semi-final opponents Alpha United suddenly withdrew from the Festival, citing their re-introduction into the Guyana Football Federation fold.
Earlier, Sunburst Camptown led by goals from Malcolm Williams (76th) and Ronel Gordon (88th) eased past Riddim Squad to set up a clash for third place against Fruta Conquerors.
The final is set for Sunday, March 4, at the same venue.
