Feb 28, 2012 Letters
Dear Editor,
On Saturday 11th February, 2012 I wrote a letter that was published in both the Stabroek News and Kaieteur News, in which I made some comments regarding the unavailability of technicians to operate the Ultra Sound Machine at the Suddie Public Hospital.
On Friday17th February, 2012 on R.C.A. Channel 8, Minister Dr. Bheri Ramsaran was trying to let the people of this region believe that what I said in that letter was not correct.
The public would know that what I said in that letter was one hundred percent correct. They would also know that I am not a journalist neither do I have the financial resources nor free access to be on the air— both radio and television— like many others, including our Health Minister, but I find some time to highlight some of the many issues affecting the people in this region and other regions as well, and whenever I do that I have the evidence to support what the people want me to write about.
On the said programme the Minister indicated that a Guyanese who is capable of reading this Ultra Sound Machine at Suddie Hospital would be based there along with the Cuban to do so.
We the people of this region are extremely happy with that decision taken by the Minister. I am not the person who would look for praises and accolades so I would take no credit for having the Minister make this decision.
However, quite recently I wrote a series of letters in both the Kaieteur News and Stabroek News only because the Guyana Times and the Guyana Chronicle do not publish most of my letters sent to them.
1. The poor quality of service provided by GT&T (land lines) in this region.
2. The silting up of the channel between Hogg Island and Wakenaam, forcing the ferries to operate only at high tide.
3. The sea wall at Aurora that would collapse any time soon.
4. The failure of the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports to promote sports in this region.
I am wondering if the Minister Dr. Beri Ramsaran is in a position to confirm or deny what I mentioned in those letters.
I would also be extremely happy if our Health Minister would accompany me to an area that is being used as a dump site at Supenaam immediately behind the market.
I would cherish the moments if the Minister can have me as a guest on one of his programmes aired not only in this region, but all the other regions so we can talk about some positives and also some negative things taking place in Region Two.
My telephone number is listed and I am available at a date and time convenient to him.
