Stefan Corlette and Akeicia Nedd teamed up yesterday to defeat Elishaba Johnson and Nevaeh Clarkston
11-7, 8-11, 11-7 and 11-4 to win the junior mixed doubles title when the Mashramani Table Tennis Championships continued.
Jeremy Singh and Salanas Jackman, and Priscilla Greaves and Miguel Wong were given joint third place when the conclusive weekend of the National Sports Commission (NSC) sponsored Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) event got underway.
Corlette/Nedd had defeated Singh/Jackman 11-5, 12-10, 9-11 and 11-3 with Johnson and Clarkston defeating Greaves/Wong 11-4, 8-11, 11-7, 8-11 and 12-10 in the semis of the contests that moved to the National Gymnasium.
In the Boys’ Doubles final, Johnson/David Duncan defeated Sunil Logan/Samuel Fraser in straight sets 11-3, 11-5 and11-5. Joint third went to Bryton Murray/Joshua Lalbachan from the Ancient County and Corlette/Wong.
In the semis, Fraser/Logan defeated Lalbachan/Murray 11-7, 11-6 and 11-3 while the Johnson/Duncan pair topped Corlette/Wong 8-11, 11-6, 11-9 and 11-3. In the quarterfinals, Logan/Fraser had defeated Marlon Adonis/Julian Haniff (Berbice) 3-0, Murray/Lalbachan defeated Michael Lowe/ Scott Garraway 3-0, Johnson/Duncan defeated Aaron Persaud/Sheldon Atherly (Bartica) 3-0 and Corlette/Wong defeated Jeremey Singh/Kevon Corbin 3-1.
Greaves/Nedd and Jackman/Clarkston faced off in the junior girls doubles final yesterday after Greaves/Nedd defeated Jolene Cozier/Tamera Ramgopaul 11-3, 11-1, 11-4 in one of the semis and Jackman/Clarkston defeated Julia Hazelwood/Anik Reid 3-11, 11-5, 11-4 and 11-4 in the other semi.
