The Preliminary Round games in the GFF Super League Games is set to conclude tomorrow with a double header at the Uitvlugt Community Center Ground, West Coast Demerara.
In the curtain raiser at 13:00hrs, New Amsterdam United will oppose Mill Ballers of Bartica in a game that the former will have to win by a wide margin if they are to have a chance of winning the group.
Victory will take them to 6 points but to give themselves a chance they will have to defeat the Barticians by at least 4 or 5 clear goals. But for them to qualify, Grove Hi Tech will have to defeat Den Amstel by a 1 goal margin in the feature game which commences at 15:00hrs.
A win for Grove will see them moving to 6 points also but they will have to beef up their goal difference. What is in Grove’s favour is that they will be playing second and they will know what they have to do, however, if Mill Ballers win their game against New Amsterdam, Grove will just have to win by a one goal margin.
However, Den Amstel can put all these speculations to rest by winning or drawing the match, they are on 6 points. The winner of the Group will join Amelia’s Ward United as the new teams in the Guyana Football federation National Super League, sponsored by FIFA under the Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF Initiative.
The other participating teams are Alpha United, Western Tigers and Pele of Georgetown, Milerock and Amelia’s Ward of Linden, Seawall FC of West Demerara, Buxton United and Victoria Kings of East Demerara and Rosignol United of Berbice.
Competition in the Super League proper will commence on Sunday March 4 with 5 games at various venues. Games will be played at the GFC, Mackenzie Sports Club, Buxton, BV, Uitvlugt and Blairmont Gtounds.
