DEAR EDITOR,
I read your report on the following subject “Former headmaster crushed to death by cop’s car” in Kaieteur News Online. Here is a link to the article I read.
I would like to take this opportunity to comment on the inaccuracy of your report. As an editor of the popular Guyana newspaper we all read on a daily basis, where did you ever get your facts?
As a respected government institution, why would GECOM ever hire an “alcoholic”?
As you said his family had severed all ties with him, where do you think he was living if not with his family? How could you make such assumptions about the family not making a fuss over him when you have no insight of them? He was definitely not living on the streets as you may think.
Taken from your article:
“According to a police source, the Sergeant stated that there were a number of parked vehicles on the road and these posed as “problems for him”, but he continued along the said route.” As you mentioned, it was not safe for the officer to proceed, yet he continued and hit a human being who I am sure will be very much missed by his family.
I hope this matter will be taken more seriously.
A concerned fellow human being
