The Sergeant, who is allegedly implicated in running over the retired Headmaster Thakoordial Jaisiri, a/k Johnny, Monday night, with his car, has been posted to the Anna Regina Police Station.
The senior rank is not under close arrest.
On Monday, 65-year-old Jaisiri, of Charity Housing Scheme, was pronounced dead at the Suddie Public Hospital moments after he was the victim of an accident on the Charity Public Road.
Reports are the senior Sergeant who was in charge of operations at the Charity outpost, was exiting Nursery School Street . He made a left turn on the Charity Public Road where there was a line of vehicles and realized that he had run over something.
Upon checking, he discovered that he had driven over Jaisiri who was lying motionless on the road.
Public-spirited persons helped transport the injured man to the Suddie Public Hospital.
Jaisari was known to persons, especially in Charity, as an alcoholic. His last posting in the Education system was at the Charity Primary School. His last place of employment was at GECOM.
A post mortem performed on Jaisiri on Tuesday, by Government Pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh confirmed that death was due to multiple injuries to his body. Jaisari was laid to rest yesterday.
