The police were yesterday looking for a white Toyota Raum, with licence plates HB 9586, and three men whom they believed were responsible for two separate robberies.
According to reports, one of the robberies occurred somewhere in Sophia and another in De Abreau Street, Netown.
This publication understands that around noon yesterday at Car Zone Auto Supplies, two men entered enquiring about car parts. Avi Seenjan told Kaieteur News that the men were trying to negotiate a discount with her brother Kirti Seenjan, who is the proprietor of the store, but failed in their efforts.
However, the woman said, while walking out of the yard, the two men pulled out handguns and held up her two cousins who were standing on the bridge. The men were ordered to hand over their valuables, but one of them resisted. The owner of the store pleaded with his cousins to hand over their jewellery. Only one of the men complied, as the other one threw his gold ring into the bushes. The gunmen then fled via a waiting car.
A man who witnessed the incident while he was sitting in his car gave chase, but then decided to stop his pursuit and make a report at the Kitty Police Station. While making their reports, the victims were informed that the same two men may have been involved in an earlier robbery in Sophia. The getaway car was subsequently found abandoned at the back of Sophia.
Investigations are ongoing.
