-scold victim for not sending daughter to school
The police on the West Coast of Demerara are being kept busy following yet another armed robbery in that division. Around mid morning yesterday Saudia Hussein of Papi Street Vreed-en-Hoop, her sister-in-law and a friend were bound and gagged and relieved of an undisclosed amount of gold and diamond jewellery and cash.
Hussein said she was in her bedroom tending to her nine year-old daughter and four year-old nephew while her friend was standing at the door.
“The next thing I hear is my friend who went at the door saying ‘is wha happen to yall boy’ and then I see he fall down to the floor and a boy behind he.”
Hussein said she remained in the bedroom and she heard a man telling her sister-in-law and friend to lie on the floor and be quiet. It was only at that point Hussein realized that a robbery was in progress. The woman related that seconds later a man came into the bedroom and began questioning her about who else was in the house and where the cash and gold were. That first man was then joined by two others, one of whom was armed with a gun.
Hussein said the men calmly placed her four -year-old nephew on a chair and gave him grapes to eat.
“They start duct taping everybody and when they go to tie up my daughter she start crying and then another one come in and say ‘no, lef the lil girl.”
She added that the men then began ransacking her house.
“One ask me why I ain’t send me daughter to school and where the purse I went to town with the other day, and a next one turn and ask me wha I do with all the money wha I sell de minibus fuh.”
Hussein further related that one of the men then entered her refrigerator and helped himself to some beverages. Throughout the ordeal Hussein said one of the men’s phone kept ringing.
“All he saying on he phone is yes we getting through we coming just now.”
She added that the men then left, but she didn’t realize that they had gone to the upper flat where her mother lives.
“After I think they gone I start loosening meself but one of them come back down and tie we back up and then my sister-in-law start to get a panic attack and she ask for some water and the man go to the fridge and give her water,”.
The woman recalled that as the man was about to gag her sister-in-law, she pleaded that the relative was asthmatic.
“The man say aright and he aint tie she up. He just look at she and tell she you really cute and he kiss she on she forehead.”
Hussein said once the men were satisfied with their booty which included a laptop, cellular phone and other gadgets, they left.
“Before they left they hail up my nephew.”
The woman said she then untied herself and raised an alarm and persons who were passing rendered assistance to the others.
The matter has been reported and investigations are ongoing.
