Outstanding performances by Nokta Moses and Imran Khan guided Daredevil to a comfortable 53 run victory over Falcons in the final of the Good Success Sports Club T10 softball cricket competition on Monday last at Belle Plaine in Wakenaam.
Daredevil won the toss and elected to bat first in front of a fair size crowd. They posted a challenging 146-5 off their alloted overs despite losing the inform Kemo Paul (02) in the first over, caught at mid wicket by Nazeer Mohamed off Vijay Persaud.
Moses and Khan then took the attack to the opposition bowlers putting together 90 for the second wicket. Moses topscored with 53 (2×4 4×6) while Khan made 32 (3×4 2×6); Persaud ended with 2-22.
Falcons in their turn at the crease found the going though and could only muster 93-4 off their 10 overs. Chandreka Ragnauth led with 35 (1×4 2×6) while Gurnauth Khemraj supported with 28 (3×4 1×6); Wazir Khan captured 2-24 for Daredevil.
Meanwhile, Daredevil overcame Redbacks and Falcons got the better of Adventure of Essequibo Coast by 13 and 110 runs in their respective semi final matches.
Scores – Daredevil 141-7 in 10 overs; N.Moses 68, K.Paul 52*, Suraj Choon 4-12. Redbacks 128 all out in 9.5 overs; Jitendra Persaud 48, Vickram Shiwcharran 21, W. Khan 3-20, N.Moses 3-28.
Falcons 184-2 in 10 overs; C.Ragnauth 90, Toolsie Sahadeo 87. Adventure 74 all out in 8.4 overs; Jaggernauth Moanbodh 4-15, C.Ragnauth 2-16, Abdool Salim 2-17.
