A 15- year- old Mount Sinai, West Canje girl has been missing for over a week. Veronica Sinclair, a drop- out from the Vryman’s Erven Secondary School left her mother’s home last Thursday after being sent on an errand.
Her mother, Daphne Williamson, said that she sent her daughter to “buy ice and she did not come back home since last week Thursday about 12:30pm. I made a report at the Central Police Station in New Amsterdam.”
Williamson said that everything was normal at home and that her daughter was not involved in any argument with family members.
Sinclair dropped out of school three years ago (while in Form 2) and had left home without parent’s permission at least once before. That was two years ago.
“She did go away first and we catch her. Then she sleep out a night and then we bring she back,” she noted.
“People talk all kinds of things that they see her in Stanleytown in New Amsterdam. Some people say that she gone up with a sand tug up the Berbice River…Different things you hearing.”
Ms. Williamson noted that the police did not even ask her for a photograph of the child. “They said they were going to send a report to all the stations.”
“I am pleading with her to come home and she should not be afraid. If she don’t want to call her father’s phone, she could call her mommy’s phone or she could go to any one of she aunts and they would bring her home.”
Williamson said that her daughter left home in a mauve “big jersey and a white short skirt with black slippers”.
Anyone knowing the girl’s whereabouts is asked to contact the mother on telephone 663-4035 and 682-2932 or the nearest police station.
