The 15 officers who recently completed the Standard Officers’ Course # 44
were yesterday presented with their State Warrants by Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Donald Ramotar.
The new officers who included 12 Second Lieutenants and four Warrant Officers were presented with the warrants during a simple ceremony held at the Credentials Room at the Office of the President.
The ceremony was attended by Commodore Gary Best and several other top ranks from the Guyana Defence Force.
Best Graduating Student, Second Lieutenant Anthony Lyttle in his vote of thanks assured the President that the new officers have heeded to his call to display good conduct as they take up their leadership role.
“Yesterday you charged us to display good conduct since good conduct will be a reflection of the Force.”
Lyttle added that himself and other Officers will not let their country nor their Commander-In-Chief down.
“We will ensure that our careers are fruitful and that we are capable of defending those bright economic prospects that our future holds.”
On Wednesday the Officers were commissioned at a parade held at the GDF Headquarters, Base Camp Ayangana, after completing rigorous training at the Colonel Ulric Pilgrim Officers Cadet School (CUPOCS).
A total of 44 courses have been conducted at the (CUPOCS), commissioning in excess of 552 young officers of the disciplined services as well as those from sister CARICOM countries.
