The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) admitted 29,591 patients last year.
Out of that amount, the hospital revealed that 1,406 patients died at the institution.
According to figures from the GPHC, the Accident and Emergency Unit alone accounted for more than 12,000 of those admitted.
In total the Accident and Emergency unit saw a whopping 66,243 persons for the whole of last year.
December, which is considered the ‘busy’ month, where the traffic in most areas is described as “hectic and dangerous” saw the least amount of patients visiting the A&E for treatment.
Five thousand, one hundred and fifty three patients were treated at the A&E in December last year, while in January the same year, the unit saw 6085 persons.
The unit referred 1,221 persons for admission in January, while December again, saw the lowest amount of 1003 admission.
The Medical Out-Patient Department (OPD) however, dealt with a total of 34,687 persons; of this figure, 27,779 persons were first time visitors.
With the new state of the art wards now available at the GPHC, it is expected that more admissions could occur.
Also the hospital has had an increase number of nurses present in the new wing.
