Four grade six students from St. Ambrose Primary School, Georgetown, were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) yesterday after they reportedly ate “hot dogs” prepared at the school.
According to reports, the grade six students were required to take items to make hot dogs since the school had a ‘hot-dog’ sale.
One of the students, Ashmalli Murray, 11, was asked to take cheese to the school. Her father, Mr. Murray, said that he could not say what exactly happened but “some time after 03:00pm I got a call from one of the teachers saying that my daughter ate a hot-dog and start to vomit.”
The father is wondering whether the ingredients used were expired thus, resulted in food poisoning.
When this publication tried to get a comment from another parent, she said that “I am permitted not to speak”. A teacher told Kaieteur News that a comment can only be obtained from the Ministry of Education.
A press release issued from the GPHC revealed that the students were food-poisoned. All the students were treated and discharged.
Meanwhile, five persons were rushed to the GPHC earlier in the day as a result of food poisoning.
