Nandanie Singh, whose baby perished on February 5, last, following a boat collision in the Cuyuni River, was on Monday discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Singh, 32, of Agatash, Essequibo, was admitted to the GPHC after the speedboat in which she, her baby, Sarah, and her husband, George Simmons, along with four other passengers were in, collided with another vessel in the Cuyuni River.
Baby Sarah Simmons and her mother endured the ‘direct’ impact of the collision.
The infant died instantly, after the bow of the other boat ‘lashed’ her out from her mother’s arms.
While the four passengers and George escaped without injuries, Singh’s face was badly damaged.
Singh was eventually rushed to the Bartica Hospital and later transferred to the GPHC, where she immediately underwent surgery and was then transferred to the High-Dependency-Unit (HDU) where she spent a few days before being admitted to the Female Surgical Ward, from where she was discharge on Monday.
