Dear Editor,
The die is cast. Mr Gordon Bradford was unanimously nominated by the executive of A Partnership For National Unity {APNU}.
I read a book years ago years ago, titled “The enemy within “. It is a masterpiece about something which is experienced worldwide by organizations, institutions as well as in one’s own family. The Regional Chairman is no exception to this bitter experience.
Mr Editor, it is a known fact that when anyone promotes himself/herself for a position of authority that individual should not be considered. Mr Bradford does not fall in this category as his nomination was based on his being the most suited.
I categorically emphatise with APNU because this new dispensation has no room for non performers or non performance. Baggages will not be borne or tolerated.
Mr Editor, the group styled Youths for Transformation has spoken through the ballots and the cries of the young must be answered. Marginalization, discrimination and victimization are social ills of the past.
It is unfortunate and alarming that Bartica of all communities does not have a Youth and Sports Officer, yet there are those who now seek to collude with gossipers and miscreants against the nomination of Gordon Bradford.
As is evident today the vibrancy of the youths throughout the length and breath of Guyana is noticeable. The youths of Bartica have been abandoned leaving them with the only alternative to venture into the mining areas.
This is the opportunity for some unscrupulous and unconscionable dredge owners to prey on the situation akin to child labour.
I penned a missive last year about the garbage that is strewn everywhere that makes the environment unfriendly; the condition has become worse. To attract tourists there must be a healthy environment but at present this does not exist in Bartica. With Regatta on the horizon, it will take a concerted effort by all Barticians if Regatta is going to be held in a favourable and accommodating environment.
There is no room for selfishness and petty differences and those who are stricken by these social diseases must rid themselves of this contagion and selflessly cooperate with the Chairman in his pursuit to make Bartica reflect its true potential as a role model to other Regions and communities.
May I remind and caution Mr Bradford that there will always be Judases and Brutuses and that he must be distracted by small minds. Almighty God is best Planner of planners.
