A tenant was yesterday placed on $25,000 bail provided that she keeps the peace with her 52-year-old landlady, whose face she allegedly threatened to bash in.
Dawn Austin appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry yesterday and pleaded not guilty to a charge of using threatening language against Humina Hutson.
The facts read that on February 10 at Lot 30 D’ Urban Street, Werk-en-Rust, Austin threatened to cause harm to her landlady by hitting her in the face.
The prosecution told the court that Austin and Hutson reside at the same location on D’ Urban Street, and Hutson is the landlady of the separated upper flat of the house the two parties share. The prosecutor said that on the day in question, Austin had the standpipe in the yard running and Hutson attempted to take a photograph of the running pipe.
Austin, the prosecutor said, became annoyed and allegedly threatened to bash in Hutson’s face. The police said that Hutson became afraid and made a report.
The defendant was placed on bail and ordered to sign a bond to keep the peace. Austin was told to return to court on February 16.
