A cook at a school was yesterday placed on $200,000 bail by Magistrate Sueanna Lovell after pleading not guilty to two counts of rape of a child under the age of 16-years-old.
The 20-year-old man was accused of having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl.
According to information, the man on October 13, 2011, at Alberttown and on December 5, of the same year at James Street Albouystown, had sexual intercourse with the female, who is now 15-years-old.
The facts said that the victim and the accused were well known to each other and were involved in a relationship. The information was that on October 13 the defendant had invited the girl to his home where he had sex with her.
The facts also said that on December 5 the girl left her mother’s house and went to the defendant’s home were they again engaged in sexual activities.
The mother of the teen became aware of the developments concerning her child and made a report to the juvenile department of the police force. The matter was investigated and the man was charged with the present offence.
A bail application was made by the defendant who stood unrepresented and the accused was granted pre-trial liberty in the sum of $100,000 on each charge.
The matter will call again on March 12.
