The Guyana Badminton Association Open Men Doubles Tournament started on Friday last at the Queens College Badminton Courts at 6:30PM.
The tournament attracted past national players Deodat Etwaru, William Holder and Gokarn Ramdhani along with senior players Ernesto Choo-A-Fat, Raymond Khalil, Haymant Ramdhani, Binsaud Baksh, Marlon Chung, Tilak Perera, Darrell Carpenay and Guyana’s top national junior players Christopher Persaud, Nicholas Ali, Narayan Ramdhani and Avinash Odit.
The tournament saw National Junior Players, Nicholas Ali and Caribbean Siler Medalist 13 year old Narayan Ramdhani reaching the finals by defeating Hayman Ramdhani & Binsaud Baksh: 21-8, 21-4 in the first round and then went on to defeat Raymond Khalil & Jason Khalil in the semi-finals: 21-17, 21-12
On the other side of the draw Gokarn Ramdhani & Marlon Chung reached the finals by defeating Tilak Pereira & Darrell Carpenay: 21-8, 21-12 in the first round then went on to defeat Deodat Etwaroo & William Holder: 21-12, 22-20 in the semi-finals:
The Finals was played yesterday with Juniors Narayan Ramdhani & Nicholas Ali up against Seniors Gokarn Ramdhani & Marlon Chung.
Other Matches Played were:
Deodat Etwaroo & William Holder defeated Christopher Persaud & Jonathan Hohenkirk: 21-18, 21-13
Raymond Khalil & Jason Khalil defeated Avinash Odit & Ernesto Choo-A-Fat: 21-19, 21-11
