A 31-year-old man was shot twice during a robbery attempt on a Mandela Avenue wash bay last evening.
It is alleged that Wayne St. Hill, of Costello Housing Scheme, was waiting for his vehicle to be washed when a man attacked him and demanded his gold chain. St. Hill fought his assailant and was shot in his right side chest and left thigh.
The father of two was subsequently rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by a friend.
His wife, Corina Jackman, said that after 19:15 hrs a man called her from St. Hill’s telephone to inform her that her husband had been involved in a vehicular accident and had been admitted to the GPHC.
The woman stated that she immediately informed her mother-in-law, Donna Morgan, and left home for the hospital.
It was only when they arrived at the hospital that they learned that St. Hill had been shot.
Morgan, who spent most of the time praying for her son, related that she recently warned him to be careful owing to the location of his house in Costello Housing Scheme, West La Penitence.
Up to press time St. Hill’s condition was listed as stable.
