The Guyana Amateur Boxing Association has sent two affiliated referee/judges to officiate in the Trinidad and Tobago National Amateur Boxing competition. Dexter Patterson and Keith Campbell departed Guyana on Friday for the Twin Island Republic and are expected back home tomorrow.
GABA president Steve Ninvalle disclosed that on Thursday, a request was received from the Trinidad and Tobago Amateur Boxing Association for the officials. “We were happy to assist as and it shows that our referees and judges are being recognized in the Caribbean,” Ninvalle said.
It was disclosed that referee Ramona Agard was a first choice but her passport “needs updating.”
“The exposure and knowledge gained by Patterson and Campbell will be an important ingredient in the advancement of the sport here,” Ninvalle added. Meanwhile, GABA has planned another seminar for local referees.
The seminar is scheduled for next month and will be run by AIBA certified referee James Beckles from Trinidad and Tobago. Beckles will be making his second such trip to Guyana after conducting a similar seminar last year January.
