Kishore Narine, 35, of Riverstown Sand, was remanded on Friday, by Magistrate Leron Daly, moments after he appeared at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge of rape.
On Monday, detectives successfully apprehended Narine and his 13-year-old lover, at Charity, where they were seen in a boat heading for neighbouring Venezuela.
Police reports previously stated that Narine kidnapped the teenager from her Onderneeming home on January 24, and held her captive at his Riverstown Sands residence for one week.
The teenager, who attends a Secondary School, and Narine, reportedly knew each other for quite some time.
Narine also made threats to the girl’s family while the teenager was held captive. Reports are that he had stated his intention of harming the teenager had her family pursued him in an effort to rescue her.
Narine will make his second appearance on March 2.
Meanwhile, another man from Mainstay Village was released on $200,000 station bail for having an affair with another 13-year-old.
The teenager, who is sexually active, told police that the man had financially supported her ever since her father died some years ago.
Both of the involved parties’ families were aware of the teenager’s relationship with the man.
