The New Opportunity Corps (NOC), located on the Essequibo Coast, yesterday
held a health walk to showcase their services.
The walk started from Golden Fleece and ended at the NOC compound, Onderneeming.
Students and officers attached to the institution showcased a variety of services offered by the institution as well as what students are involved in.
Speaking to this newspaper, Senior Trainer at the institution, Brian King, said that the health walk was organized through the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports with the aim of sensitizing Essequibo of the work of NOC.
King said students were placed in various groups with placards displaying critical topics including personal hygiene, juices, water, whole grain food, green and yellow vegetable and physical fitness.
Under the physical fitness, students were attired in the different sporting disciplines.
Students also displayed trophies which the institution received for outstanding performances.
NOC is a holding facility for delinquents who are under 17 years.
