The mother of a mentally-challenged woman who was allegedly abducted and used as a sex slave is expected to meet with Police Commissioner (ag), Leroy Brummel today in her quest for justice.
The woman said she plans to complain about the lack of police action following a rape report she made. Her 23-year-old daughter was allegedly held for five days, beaten, raped, and tattooed by her attackers.
The mother said that since the incident which occurred on January 6, no arrest has been made by the police and she is afraid that her daughter’s case is not being prioritized. The mother said that she visited Brickdam, East La Penitence, Sparendaam and Alberttown Police Stations where complaints were made, but is yet to see any meaningful actions.
“The process is very slow and the police only said that if they get anybody they will hold on to them,” the mother claimed. “That is not enough. This kind of action is driving me to do my own ground work.”
The woman, however, believes that with the intervention of the police chief, some sort of urgency would be brought to the matter. She will also be seeking the intervention of religious organizations to help highlight the issue.
In the meantime, a rank at the Brickdam Police Station said that notices were sent out to other police stations informing them of the incident. The officer claimed that investigations into the matter are ongoing but there has been no new development.
The mentally unstable woman, according to her mother, was abducted in early January by two men who reportedly pulled her into a vehicle while she was walking with a male.
The woman was stripped and beaten with electricity wire at a building where she was held against her will.
According to the woman’s mother, her daughter was repeatedly raped by a gang of men who afterward tattooed a huge penis surrounded by degrading remarks on her buttocks. The mother said her daughter’s attackers performed anal sex on the woman and even traded her body for cash to anyone willing to pay for it. She was released five days later on a city street.
