Mashramani celebrations kicked off in Lethem last Friday with what was described
by locals as Region Nine’s best Children’s Mash Competition. It was held at the Saint Ignatius School’s benab. The participants from schools across the region, showcased their talents in dramatic poetry, calypso, dances and costume, in front of over 300 persons.
The schools of Saint Ignatius (nursery, primary and secondary), won the most trophies. The event which was themed- ‘Mash with Pride, Keeping the Tradition Alive’, was sponsored mainly by the Region Nine Education Department and GBTI Lethem Rupununi branch.
