Berbice and Guyana’s Female Cricket champions, the Rose Hall Town Metro Team had
their cricket sponsorship renewed at the cost of $160, 000 by Metro Office and Computer Supplies. The simple presentation ceremony was held at the Company’s New Amsterdam office.
Secretary/CEO of the Club Hilbert Foster stated that Metro has been sponsoring the Rose Hall Town Female Team since its formation in 2007 and during that period the team won both the Berbice and national cricket championships. The team have also produced sixteen Berbice Cricketers at all levels, seven Guyana players and three for the West Indies. Among the players who have played for the team are Erva Giddings, Shemaine Campbelle, Tremayne Smartt, Melanie Henry, Phaffiana Millington, Nikita Toney, Trishanie Cort, Tessa Park, Nermala Sewdat and Jackie Singh. The female team in 2011 were also involved in twelve community programmes/projects under its personal development campaign.
The Secretary/CEO also announced that Shemaine Campbelle would lead the team in 2012 with Erva Giddings as her vice captain. The Manager is Janet Ramsammy, while Winston Smith is the Coach. Mr. Dhieranidranauth Somwaru, retired First Class Umpire and Guyana Teachers’ Union President Colin Bynoe are the Executives directly in charge of the Females in the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club.
Metro Berbice Manager, Ms Ava Lindie in handing over the sponsorship cheque stated that Metro was more than delighted to be associated with the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club especially its female section. She urged the members of the team to remain focused and to be discipline at all times.
