The Honorable, Dr.
Frank Anthony
The Ministry of Culture,
Youth and Sport
71 Main Street
Georgetown
Dear Sir,
We are pleased to inform you that we have now regained possession of our Offices through the kind intervention of the Courts and some of your Officers complying with the Order issued by the Honorable Justice William Ramlall on January 31st 2012.
Just prior to the lockdown of our Offices by your Ministry and its servants /agents on December 23rd 2011, we were in the process of our annual audit for the fiscal year ending 30th November 2011.
Our auditors has now indicated that they would be ready to commence their work on Tuesday, February 7th 2012, which would be conducted at our Offices at 221-222, Regent Rd, Bourda, Georgetown.
At this time, we would like to reiterate our standing offer and invitation to you, for the Ministry’s immediate appointment of an auditor to work alongside our auditors, PKF Barcellos, Narine & Co during the auditing phase of this exercise. Please be reminded that the Permanent Secretary in Ministry Of Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr. Alfred King had been attending Executive Committee Board meetings for some time now, and is fully au fait with all discussions and decisions made and executed within the previous period mentioned.
Further, we would also like to extend our previous offer for you to place an auditor to work in our office on a full time basis at your expense, to monitor all transactions. We believe this would be a good learning experience for both parties, and may well lead to a better understanding of the systems used by the Guyana Cricket Board to avoid fraudulent practices.
We are confident in our systems and believe it can be exported to other organizations as it is efficient and thorough.
We note your Ministry’s fixation and focus on alleged financial irregularities of the Board and are very pleased to advise that we have since been able to obtain a copy of the elusive Rupert Foster report which investigation was commissioned by the Friendly Societies Registrar since January 2011. A copy of this report is now attached for your ease of reference.
All for your information and guidance.
Yours faithfully
Anand Sanasie
Secretary
Guyana Cricket Board
