They are regarded as one of two last standing dynasties in motor racing, they are known as the Rahamans and come tomorrow fans will have another opportunity to witness two members of the most durable family in the sport take to the track to battle the opposition for ultimate supremacy when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) holds its first Meet, at the South Dakota Circuit.
The father and son combination of Jad and Ryan Rahaman will be battling for supremacy against an opposition that is determined to upstage one of the most illustrious families in sport.
Jad has been very consistent in the Group 2A category, while Ryan has been equally efficient in the Group 2B and 3 divisions.
The younger Rahaman in his Ford Escort possesses all the smoothness and skills of an outstanding driver that seen him win numerous races, while Jad has been the embodiment of class and longevity and is a classic example of motor racing talent. They’ve survived from a rare breed that have dedicated their lives to living on speed and getting past them will take some doing and daredevilry.
Another family that exemplifies such lineage is the Vieiras and they too have excelled for a number of years at the top of the sport and they too are set to continue along the lines of durability with the emergence of Emma, Matthew and Elliot in the go-kart category, while elder statesman Mark, brother Paul and cousin Stephen are still going strong.
Just like the Rahamans, they seem set to dominate the sport of speed for sometime to come.
Fans will have that opportunity to gauge the two remaining empires in the sport when they go up against each other in the clash for eventual preeminence tomorrow.
