Prize monies now jumps to $5M

With the inclement weather causing a delay in the start of the 2012 Horseracing season with three postponements already, the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club & Sports Facility (RCMTC&SF) whose race meet is slated for this Sunday 5th February at its Alness Corentyne Berbice location is the latest on the list to be hit. The principals of the entity have released a revised programme for the meet which is now slated for Sunday 26th February at the clubs racetrack.
Nine races have now been carded for the day up from eight with the prize money jumping to $5M from $3.5, with two feature events added, the B and Lower and the event for 4yrs old open Guyana & West Indies Bred horses added to the programme.
The feature event, which will be sponsored by Beverage giants Banks DIH, will now be for horses classified B and lower over a distance of 1500M with the first prize being tagged at $700,000 and the Banks DIH Limited trophy.
The E&F and lower race now fetches a winning money of $350,000 over 1200M.
The event for 4yrs old Guyana & West Indies Bred horses classified F1 and lower also has a winning purse of $350,000 over 1500M.
The 3yr old Guyana and West Indies Bred race is for a $300,000 first prize over 1400M.
The three year old race for Guyana Bred horses has a winning money of $250,000 over 1200M. The G class race will now be a 1500M race for the pole position money of $200,000. The H1 and lower competitors will battle for a winning purse of $160,000 now over 1200M.
The I2 race replaces the I3 contest and will have a winning money of $120,000 over 1200M.
There is a J K and L Division 1, 2 and 3 contest will see the winner getting $90,000 over 1200M.
The races are run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority. Interested owners can make contact as early as possible with the office at Number 13 Hermitage East Coast Berbice (19 Road).
