Dear Editor,
Every time the heavens opens up and releases a little bit of water, this country becomes a reservoir.
Punishing rain over the past few days have returned fears of the great flood of 2005 and the suffering it left across the land.
While the majority of this country and in particular its poor and majority working class citizenry have had to wade through water invading their very homes, the question on my mind is whether that Sangri-la sitting right next to the ocean called Pradoville 2 where Bharrat Jagdeo has his sprawling palace has flooded or not? Because this very newspaper asked serious questions about this project and whether state funds were spent towards this project without proper answers to date. The furor over the expenditure of state funds on building this oasis for the sultanate touched on the issue of whether the lands at Pradoville 2 were being built up to prevent the exclusive community from succumbing to flooding despite its presence in a low lying area so near the sea.
So the question is simply this: did Pradoville 2 flood? If it did flood, was it as severe as the stricken communities along the coast?
The people have a right to know whether these men who call themselves men of the people are residing on dry land while many suffer the hardships of flooding brought on by a few days of incessant rain.
