Beginning today, the Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee will be operating out of a police building at Eve Leary.
This is to facilitate repair works to the Ministry’s building on Brickdam.
Kaieteur News understands that staff of the Ministry will be occupying two buildings at Eve Leary, one situated south of the Central Immigration Office on Camp Street and the other on Young Street.
But questions are being raised as to the wisdom of locating some of the Ministry’s offices at Eve Leary, since there are many other vacant government buildings that could have been used.
Except for the Minister’s office, it is not clear what other departments of the Ministry will be housed at the two Eve Leary locations.
It is also not clear what will be the duration of the Ministry’s occupation.
There are also concerns that there could be some congestion in the vicinity since the Ministry of Home Affairs accommodates members of the public on a daily basis.
