Joel Williamson of the Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym (PRBG) continued to impress when he forced the referee to wave off his 95-99lbs bout against Harpy Eagles (HE) representative, Travis Hubbard when action in the amateur segment of the Friday Night fights concluded at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) Friday evening last.
The slimly built Berbician employed a two fisted attack that forced the referee to institute the mandatory eight count and subsequently halt the contest. Williamson’s gym mate, bantamweight Jamal Eastman also made the PRBG proud with a unanimous verdict over R Sumner of the Five Star boxing outfit. Quincy Gomes also meted out a similar fate to Akeem Daniels in their lightweight encounter, while Diwani Lampkin of the Forgotten Youth Foundation (FYF) survived a late onslaught by Matthew Hollingsworth of the Five Star Boxing Gym to capture a close 2-1 decision in their 100-106lbs encounter.
The boxers were the recipients of large food hampers contributed by furniture giants, Courts. The action continues on February 24 next when several other boxers take to the ring.
