Five Meets planned for 2012; overall champion to win Yamaha Dirt Bike
The National Grass track Racing Club (NGRC), registered with the Ministry of Culture Youth & Sport, is aiming to transform the sport of grass track racing image in Guyana with a view of attaining international standards.
According to a release from the NGRC, their main goal is to get more people to take participate in the sport which is the main reason why they will be giving away a brand new Yamaha Dirt Bike worth over 2 million dollars.
“We plan gave this bike to the champion rider for the year. We are also giving away prize money and trophies for the winners of every race. We plan to take grass track racing to all parts of Guyana, the first race will be held on the West Bank Demerara after which we will be heading to Berbice, Essequibo, East Coast Demerara and Bartica.”
The NGRC will be hosting five (5) race meets this year, the first of which is set for the Goed Fortuin Community Centre Ground on the West Bank Demerara on February 19, 2012.
The club is reporting that they already have some top local riders who will be competing but is also encouraging those riders who didn’t join as yet to get onboard.
Competitors are expected from the US and the Caribbean which will add variety to a day full of excitement and thrills; ten (10) races are carded for the day which will be divided into three groups, Pro, Novice and Chappy Races.
Kids will not be left out of the excitement as there will be a kids corner while some of the sponsors will be having booths to showcase their products and services.
