The prosecution has closed its case against Tiffany Clarke, the young woman accused of stabbing to death
her lesbian lover, Sonobia James. In light of this, James may very well learn her fate Monday, right after her lawyer is through questioning a previous witness.
On Friday, Police Prosecutor Inspector Stephen Telford, informed the court that the prosecution had proven its case against the defendant who should now lead a defence. Instead Defence lawyer George Thomas requested that woman constable Melissa Gilkes return to be questioned in connection with certain information she would have allegedly taken from Clarke.
It was pointed out by the court that Gilkes had presented herself in court previously and Clarke was given the option to cross examine the female police rank but she had refused. The prosecution then asked the court to acknowledge the constant absence of the defence attorney. This was accepted but the lawyer was still granted the opportunity to have the witness reappear.
The court ordered that the prosecution’s witness present herself but efforts to reach the woman failed and so the later date was fixed.
Clarke is accused of killing James after a heated argument ended in a blood bath. James was stabbed in late April at the popular strip joint “Red Dragon Club”.
James received a single stab wound to the neck following a disagreement over another female. She was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital but succumbed to her injuries minutes after arriving there.
