The Cricket Interim Management Committee, in a press release, has issued a strong warning to the responsible persons for placing intimidating calls to several cricketers. The IMC, which was set up by government to look into the serious problems affecting cricket and is headed by former West Indies Captain Clive Lloyd, stated that it will use every avenue to make those responsible held accountable and called for an immediate halt to such actions.
Here is the full text of the release:
“The Cricket Interim Management Committee wishes to advise the General Public that it has been brought to their attention that some of the recently selected players of the National Squad have been receiving telephone calls of a threatening nature telling them not to participate in the scheduled practice sessions and the practice game.”
“The Interim Management Committee wishes to state that they will not condone this type of behavior and insist that the person or persons involved desist from this action immediately or all appropriate steps will be taken to safeguard the interest of our players.”
“The Interim Management Committee is encouraging all selected players to attend all scheduled sessions and not to be intimidated by such action.”
