Guyana Under-19 cricketer, Gudakesh Motie, slammed 76 and took 5 for 29 with his left arm spin to help Albion Community Centre take first innings points from Rose Hall Town Bakewell (RHTB) in their final Zone ‘C’ preliminary round match of the 2011 Memorex/Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17 cricket competition in Berbice.
Both team advanced to the quarter finals with Albion ending as winners of the Zone ahead of Rose Hall Town Bakewell.
Enjoying home advantage, Albion Community Centre took first strike and posted 212 for 9 declared; Motie 76, Guyana Under-15 batsman Sharaz Ramcharran 46 and Berbice Under-15 all-rounder David Latchaya 34. Bowling for RHTB, Guyana Under-15 off spinner, Shailendra Shameer took 3 for 33 and Berbice Under-15 off spinner, Viendra Gooniah 2 for 58.
When RHTB replied, they were routed for 73 with Motie picking up 5 for 29, medium pacer Azam Khan 3 for 26 and off spinner Latchman Bisram 2 for 6 while Devin Baldeo top scored with 29 for RHTB.
Meanwhile the quarter finals are fixed today and tomorrow. Achievers will Police at Lovely Lass; Young Warriors oppose Rose Hall Town Bakewell at Area ‘H’ Ground; Albion Community Centre will entertain Blairmont Community Centre while No.70 Young Star will be at home to No.45. All matches commence at 10:30hrs daily.
