The Guyana Cricket Board in a press release issued by Cricket Operations Officer Robin Singh said, it is pleased to announce the Guyana National Senior male team, which will be contesting the WICB Regional four-day competition for 2012.
The Team and reserves are as follows: Shivnarine Chanderpaul (Captain), Sewnarine Chattergoon, Rajendra Chandrika, Narsingh Deonarine, Assad Fudadin, Leon Johnson, Ramnarace Sarwan, Derwin Christian, Christopher Barnwell, Brandon Bess, Veerasammy Permaul (Vice Captain), Davendra Bishoo and Ronsford Beaton.
The reserves are – Royston Crandon, Rajiv Ivan, Keon Joseph, Norman Fredricks, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Steven Jacobs, Trevon Griffith, Anthony Bramble and Vishal Singh.
Manager is Mr. David Black, Coach Esuan Crandon and Assistant Coach David Harper.
Permission has been granted to Shivnarine Chanderpaul to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
According to the release should he choose to participate in the BPL Permaul, his deputy, will assume the Captaincy in his absence with his deputy being Leon Johnson. The team selected is for the first two matches only.
All players and reserves are asked to attend a pre-tournament meeting at the Chetram Singh Center of Excellence LBI tomorrow, at 11:00hrs.
Meanwhile, a source close to the Board told this newspaper that Guyana’s opening matches have been shifted to Dominica due to the ongoing impasse between the IMC and the GCB.
According to the source, the Guyana leg of the Australia tour has been removed as well, while discussions are ongoing to play Guyana’s third and fourth matches at a venue to be named shortly.
