The parents of an inmate at the New Opportunity Corp is calling for a thorough investigation into his beating which has left several scars and lacerations about his body. This publication was told that the boy tried to reveal the tale of beating to his mother when she visited the facility earlier last week.
However because the lad was closely monitored throughout his visit he was not able to provide all the details.
“When the lady turn away he lift up he pants and tell me how he get some of the cuts on his leg and he told me that he has more on his buttocks.”
The angry mother said that her son also related that after the beating they officials at the correctional facility soaked the area about his body with methylated spirit.
The woman said that when she asked why he was beaten, her son related that he was accused of stealing bread from the kitchen at the facility. As if the beating was not enough punishment the woman said her son is forced to walk around the compound with two heavy bricks in his hand and to do extra chores.
According to the woman, she has since reported the matter to an official from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport. Her son has informed her that the bricks were taken away from him. The official had promised to look into the matter and promised that her son will be sent for medical examination for his injuries.
However the woman said that she has not received any feedback from the Ministry and is calling for a thorough investigation into the matter since she believes that other inmates at the facility have been suffering the same fate.
