A miner on Saturday last plunged to his death after he was seen consuming alcohol
at the Port Kaituma waterfront. The man has been identified as Marco Samuels of Moruca Village.
This publication was told that the man was seen consuming alcohol late Saturday afternoon. Not long after, persons in the area said that the man was then seen plunging into the river. He did not resurface. Persons began a search but failed to locate the man’s body.
Some time around noon on Sunday the man’s body was fished out of the river by public spirited citizens.
Samuels worked in Port Kaituma as a gold miner.
