The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), continuing its tradition of early preparation, will heighten plans shortly for the Inter County Under-15 tournament which is expected to get underway in about two months time.
The Coaching Department of the Board chaired by Julian Moore would be conducting sessions for all Under-15 players at four venues across the Ancient County from next Monday (January 23).
Sessions will be held at the Blairmont Community Centre on Monday for players from the West Berbice area, while on Tuesday the coaching team will be heading to Berbice High School Ground where players drawn from the East Bank Berbice, New Amsterdam/Canje district will be in the spotlight.
On Wednesday (January 25) sessions would be held at the Area ‘H’ Ground for Lower Corentyne players, while the final session on Friday will take place at the Skeldon Community Centre Ground for Upper/Central Corentyne players.
All the sessions would commence at 15:30 hours and players born on or after September 1st 1996 are eligible to attend.
The BCB at the end of the sessions will name 40 players who will be part of the junior elite training squad to start intense preparations for the Inter County competition. Clubs across Berbice are also encouraged to start preparations for the Tenelec Inc. 2012 Inter Club and NCN Inter Zone Under-15 tournaments which will start shortly.
The Special Events Committee would also be conducting cricket clinics for junior spinners, batsmen, fast bowlers and wicketkeepers over the next two weeks since the BCB intention is to focus on coaching in the early part of this year.
