With this year’s theme being ‘It’s our game’ the GT&T / Ministry of Culture,
Youth & Sport / Guyana Softball League 10 /10 Softball Cricket Tournament was launched in a simple, but yet impressive ceremony yesterday, at its Blackberry Head Office on Brickdam.
It was announced during the launching that apart from huge incentives for the winning teams, fans and subscribers of the Company will have the opportunity to win a Tacoma SUV through a texting game that will see questions being fielded from the magazine which will be made available at all GT&T outlets across the country and other popular outlets.
This is the third year that the tournament is in existence and according to CEO Yog Mahadeo, this edition is anticipated top attract more teams than previous years, while incentives and giveways are also expected to increase in all the communities that games are scheduled to be played.
Explaining the rules of the texting competition, Mahadeo said that questions will be based on the contents of the magazine which was compiled by Sports writer / Commentator / Analyst Brig Parasnath and subscribers just have to text to 620-3788 to relay their answers.
“Every 4 questions answered will entitle the subscriber to a coupon which is expected to be filled out with the relevant information and placed with other entries for a grand drawing to win the SUV,” Mahadeo stated.
The competition which started with 584 registered teams and then increased to 1,224 last year is sure to exceed that mark come this year, judging from the challenge extended to the organisers and which could easily see prize monies amplified as promised by the CEO.
Among the other items that could be won are Flat screen TVs, free credit, I-pods and I-pads.
