Jan 18, 2012 Letters
Dear Sir,
I refer to an article published in your newspaper on January 14, 2012 accompanied by a Bold Headline on Page1 together with an unsigned letter published on January 16, 2012 dealing ostensibly with an application from me to resume practice to the Medical Council of Guyana.
Let me state categorically that I never made any such application. I am retired and therefore the entire thrust of your article is wrong and false. I wish to state also :-
1) My so-called suspension which took place when I was not in Guyana had been squashed some time ago. There is still a matter pending in Court about damages.
2) Your article and subsequent letter are full of innuendo and libel and sensational reporting but the fact is that on the first occasion I faced my accuser in Court and was acquitted of the charge.
3) I have not been convicted of any offence in this country and am eligible to practice my profession if and when I choose to.There is a minor requirement for me to do so if and when I decide.
4) As regards the unsigned letter I have already said what I had to say. Nobody can prevent me from making a living in this country.
5) In the circumstances, you should exercise more care and caution in your reporting and also publishing letters from disgruntled elements. You may now wish to issue a retraction of the story which has no foundation at all.
