Competition in the inaugural Banks DIH sponsored Beach Football League continued at the Christianburg Ground on Sunday last with four exciting third-round matches. Based on reports emanating from the Bauxite Mining Town, the level of play and competitiveness of the competition is improving with each game.
Two games ended in pulsating draws, while Cool Runnings and Silver Shattas romped to wins in their respective games against Top 25 and Wisroc respectively.
In what has been described as a lopsided clash, Silver Shattas mauled Wisroc 11-1. Leading the goal party for Shattas were Colwyn Davids who netted six goals (2, 3, 10, 13, 24, 25), Deshawn Freeman (8, 23) and Vouwayne Hamilton (25, 27) tucked in a brace each with the other coming off the boot of Damion Williams in the 4th minute. Wisroc got their consolation goal from Keon Fudgenay 28 minutes into the encounter.
Cool Runnings who suffered a loss and a draw in their two previous games, bounced back in fine style toppling Top 25 9-3. Guiding Cool Runnings were Rawle Gittens (5, 11, 18) and Steve Brewley (16, 17, 23) with a hat-trick each. Kennard Simon (13, 22) and Sean Brewley (9) were the other players on target for the winners. Top 25 got their goals from Delon Charter (1, 23) and Keith Bailey (10).
Battling to an exciting 4-4 draw were Eagles and Blue Berry Hill. Eagles’ goal scorers were Deon Charter (12, 19, 27) and Derron Smith (16). Blue Berry Hill got theirs from Brinzley Warde (14), Kearon Noble (15), Devon Caesar (20) and Troy Miller (21).
The other game on Sunday produced riveting action for the fans as the game concluded 6-6 between the Developmental Team and Vasco.
On target for the Developmental Team were Ryan Crandon (12, 15, 24), Alistair Johnson (2, 28) and Randy Small (4). Vasco responded through Trevon Frank (3, 26), Michael Wilson (4, 13), Jason Allicock (25) and an own goal from Ryan Crandon in the 27th minute.
Following are the results from matches contested on Thursday last.
Game 1: Vasco trounced Cool Runnings by 5 goals to 4. Scoring for Vasco were Jason Allicock (3, 7), Michael Wilson (19, 26) and Lennox Allicock (30). For Cool Runnings scoring were Ralph Alexander (1, 17), Steve Brewley (22) and Kennard Simon (23).
Game 2: Top 25 and Eagles drew 3-3. Top 25 earned their goals from Keith Bailey (10, 20) and Dellon Charter (9). Eagles replied through Kellon Primo (5), Dirk Farrell (13) and Dion Charter (23).
Game 3: Development Team trashed Wisrock by 9 goals to 2. Randy Small rained in a helmet-trick (7, 10, 26, 28), Alistair Johnson scored a hat-trick (12, 22, 29) and Ryan Crandon a double (3, 5). For Wisrock Oslyn Hope scored both (4, 13).
Game 4: Blue Berry Hill got the better of Silver Shattas 5-3. Devon Caesar (12, 22), Melvin Benn (2), Brinzley Ward (4) and Alavado Lewis (18) were all on target for Blue Berry Hill while for Shattas, Deshawn Freeman (5), Robin Adams (10) and Damion Williams (28) converted.
Leading the points table after three-rounds of action is the Development Team on 7 points followed by Vasco (5), Cool Runnings (4), Top 25 (4), Blue Berry Hill (4), Eagles (3), Silver Shattas (3), and Wisroc yet to get off the mark.
Play will continue on Thursday with round-four matches at the same venue.
