Dear Editor,
Please publish this letter on my behalf. This is my final attempt to try and prevent Rama Sahadeo from working in Guyana or anywhere in the world. He is a disgrace to doctors through the world.
I do not want to disrupt my sister’s life once again, for I blame myself for doing so in 1997, when I persuaded her to talk to a Kaieteur News reporter after they published the story about the rape allegation against Sahadeo, and to Help and Shelter and The Medical Council. In doing so she had to relive that horrible nightmare. She did her part in trying to prevent this man from making some of his patients his victims and supporting the other women who came forward.
Now she should have the satisfaction of knowing that she has done the right thing by coming forward and sharing her story, knowing there is a positive outcome and feeling there was some form of justice given to the victims. I am sure they have copies of her statement.
I was in my late teens when I accompanied her to his clinic. She was a victim and sought his help to prevent shame on our family and ended up becoming a victim all over again.
I am willing to speak to members of the Medical Council should there be a need to do so. I am in contact with a Kaieteur New reporter. He has my contact information.
Sister of victim
Is this oil a blessing or a curse?
