A number of Companies have thrown their support behind Sunday February 5 Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf club (RCMTC), formerly the Alness Turf Club, one day Sprint meet at the club’s track at Alness, Corentyne, Berbice.
The event, which is dubbed a sprint meet because none of the events are over 1400M, has prize monies totaling close to $3.5M in cash and trophies with eight events on the card.
Among the companies and business personnel that have indicated an interest in being a part of the day’s proceedings include – Banks DIH limited, Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market, Delmur Company Limited, Omai Transportation, Mohammed ‘Nankoo’ Shariff of the Shariff Racing Stable, Attorney at Law Poonai and The RCMTC. The feature event will be for horses classified E&F class battling for a winning purse of $400,000 over 1200M.
The other events listed are for the animals running in the 3yr old Guyana and West Indies Bred contest for first prize of $280,000 over 1400M. There is the three year old race for Guyana Bred horses for a winning prize of $250,000 over 1200M. The G class event has a $200,000 purse over 1400M.
The H1 and lower competitors will battle for a winning purse of $160,000 over 1200M
There is a race for I1 and lower horses which has a winning purse of $130,000 and will be over 1200M. The winner of the I3 contest will collect $100,000 and they will compete over 1200M.
There is a J and K Division 1&2 event over 1100M with a winner’s money of $80,000.
Some of the animals expected to be on show are; Dubai Duchess, Face the Music, Technology, Night Crescendo, Damascus Dream, Momzelle, Miracle Run, Majestic, Settle In Seattle, Watch My Shadow, Pegasus Rising, Savion Mona Lisa, Funny Side among others.
The races are run under the Guyana Horse Racing Rules.

Other racing dates for the club are Sunday 25th March, Sunday 1st July, Sunday 23th September and Sunday 25th November.
