Taxi driver Radesh Ramkarran of Sisters Village, East Bank Berbice, was on Wednesday placed on $100,000 bail by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo when he appeared before her on a charge of rape.
According to Inspector Donna Grant Fraser who presented the case for the prosecution, the man is alleged to have committed the act on Friday 31st of October at Rose Hall Town Corentyne, Berbice.
The case was heard in the Reliance Magistrate court, but has been transferred to the Albion Magistrate court for February 7.
It is alleged that the man took the teen from school to a hotel in Rose Hall Town where he committed the act. The matter was reported and he was arrested. A file was prepared and sent to the DPP for advice and he was subsequently charged.
