Indeed this New Year is bringing innovative things into Track and Field for the Guyanese athletes and fans of athletics in Guyana and around the world.
Akeem Benjamin, founder of the Guyana Track Family (GTF), which was established on 4th August, 2011, has now created the GUY Track Magazine as promised and told Kaieteur Sport and the athletes via Facebook on the GTF page that the online magazine blog will be officially launched on February 29th, 2012 under URL address http://guytrackmagazine.com.
Interacting with Benjamin, this publication was made to understand that the domain name for the online magazine blog site was bought yesterday after attaining sponsorship from his aunt, Susan Benjamin who resides in USA.
“I bought the domain name today (yesterday) for the online magazine blog site to help improve the communication between the athletes in Guyana and round the world and also to showcase Guyanese talent to the world as well; we all know that the internet is the going thing now and I think this move will allow that (athletes recognition) to happen faster.”
Benjamin also added that the online magazine blog is a five years plan and work is currently in progress to get the website functional.
“A lot of work has to be done before its official launch on February month end; I will start by acquiring the athletes’ photos and information so I can create a profile for them so the blog can get the athlete of the month.
The blog will also include news, editorials, video section, event section, nutritional section and more.”
The other goal to attain after the official launch of the GUY Track Magazine online blog will be to create the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG) website which will be awarded to them, Benjamin stated.
The main aim of creating the AAG website is for the athletes in Guyana to be informed about the upcoming events as they persist with their athletic careers whether locally or overseas.
The founder of both GTF and GUY Track Magazine online blog is also attempting to publish an Athletic Sports Magazine once sponsorship is acquired before the conclusion of this year.
Benjamin is encouraging the general public to join the Guyana Track Family page on Facebook, a common site that most individuals use to keep on track presently with athletics in Guyana as he endeavors in building the GUY Track Magazine online blog and Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG) website.
